Academy uniform
The academy uniform is formal and is clearly defined and we expect all students to wear it correctly with pride. It is expected that all students will wear the uniform unless there is a valid medical or cultural reason why a student cannot wear a particular item or why they have to wear an additional garment.
School Uniform
As per the DFE guidance, we have limited the number of branded items of uniform to three plus a tie. These are indicated in bold and an asterix*. All other branded uniform items are optional and there are non-branded alternatives.
Students should wear:
- Black Trousers
- Black knee-length KLA pleated skirt (available from Stratfords worn with black socks or tights (alternative non-branded black knee length skirts may be worn). Girls also have the option to wear non-branded trousers.
- Tailored black shorts
- Plain white collared shirt
- KLA blazer* (available from Stratfords)
- KLA tie* (available from Stratfords)
- Academy jumper with logo (optional, available from Stratfords)
- Plain black socks
- Plain black school shoes
Please note that hoodies and non-uniform jumpers are not permitted anywhere within the academy. As the weather becomes less predictable, we ask that students wear an appropriate coat to school to keep warm and protected from the elements.
PE Kit
Outdoor PE Kit
- Academy shorts or plain black standard fit shorts (cycling and Nike Pro shorts are not permitted)
- Academy polo shirt*
- Academy rugby shirt*/microfleece* (both unisex) (there is the choice of purchasing either the rugby shirt or the microfleece)
- Academy socks or plain black socks
- Outdoor trainers
- Shin pads (girls and boys)
- Football boots (girls and boys) also for safety when playing winter sports when the ground is wet/slippery or muddy
Indoor PE Kit
- Academy polo shirt*
- Academy shorts or plain black standard fit shorts (cycling and Nike Pro shorts are not permitted)
- Academy socks or plain black socks
- Indoor trainers
Students are expected to bring their PE kit to every lesson, even if they are unable to take part due to illness or injury. In these circumstances, students will still be required to change and may be asked to undertake alternative roles such as coaching, officiating or supporting the lesson.

Jewellery
- One small pair of plain stud earrings may be worn but must be removed for PE
- Pupils may wear a wristwatch
- No rings, necklaces, bracelets or any other jewellery items are to be worn.
Make-up
- Light make-up may be worn but must be discreet.
- Hair may not be dyed bright or ‘unnatural’ colours.
- No nail varnish.
- Acrylic/gel/nails or tips are not allowed in school.
Equipment
- A suitable school bag, large enough to carry all necessary equipment
- All students should have a Knowledge Organiser with them each day
- A scientific calculator.
- We recommend students have the following: two pens, two pencils, a ruler. Highlighters and coloured pens/pencils, etc can also be very useful in lessons but are not essential.
- We strongly encourage pupils to have a reading book with them at all times.
- We discourage students bringing in mobile phones and other devices. If these are brought into the academy it is at the risk of the owner. All devices must be switched off or set to ‘silent’ and must remain out of sight at all times.
Failure to comply with the uniform policy may result in:
- Contact home from Head of Year to ascertain reasons for incorrect uniform
- Sending students home to collect correct uniform
- Isolating students in school while awaiting correct uniform
