Academy uniform

The academy uniform is formal and is clearly defined and we expect all students to wear it correctly with pride. It is expected that all students will wear the uniform unless there is a valid medical or cultural reason why a student cannot wear a particular item or why they have to wear an additional garment. Any student refusing to wear the correct uniform will be withdrawn from lessons until the matter is rectified.

Make-up

• Light make-up may be worn but must be discreet.

• Hair may not be dyed bright or ‘unnatural’ colours.

Equipment

• A suitable school bag, large enough to carry all necessary equipment

• All students should have a Knowledge Organiser with them each day

• A scientific calculator.

• We recommend students have the following: two pens, two pencils, a ruler. Highlighters and coloured pens/pencils, etc can also be very useful in lessons but are not essential.

• We strongly encourage pupils to have a reading book with them at all times.

• We discourage students bringing in mobile phones and other devices. If these are brought into the academy it is at the risk of the owner. All devices must be switched off or set to ‘silent’ and must remain out of sight at all times.

Failure to comply with the uniform policy may result in:

  • Contact home from Head of Year to ascertain reasons for incorrect uniform
  • Sending students home to collect correct uniform
  • Isolating students in school while awaiting correct uniform
