King's Lynn Academy Uniform
At King’s Lynn Academy we believe good standards of dress promote a positive attitude to work and behaviour and also identify students to the local community and future employers as members of an efficient organisation. The co-operation of parents is requested to ensure that students are in smart uniform at all times. Students failing to comply with uniform requirements will be sent home to change. Sixth Form Dress CodeSixth form dress code should be of business-related attire, namely shirt and tie with tailored smart trousers (boys) or blouse/top or tailored skirt or smart trousers (girls). Jeans/chinos/shorts are not permitted. Sports Clothing (Outdoors)For outdoor sports, student must wear clothing from among the following:
Dance UniformGirls – plain black fitted tee-shirt and either black leggings or fitted and stretchy dance trousers Boys – plain black tee-shirt and black ‘stretchy’ tracksuit bottoms, both fairly close fitting Other Aspects of UniformHairHair must be a natural colour and of a moderate style. No extremes of hairstyle are permitted except on religious or cultural grounds. Designs shaved into the hairstyle are not permitted. Colourful headbands and hair clips are not permitted. Hairbands in the Academy colours of black or yellow are allowed as long as they are single coloured. JewelleryPlain silver or gold studs, measuring no more than 1cm, may be worn as a single matching pair only, with one stud in each ear lobe. Students are not allowed to wear rings on fingers or toes Sixth Form students may wear one ring only Chains and any other visible body piercings are not permitted but clear/zero colour plastic retainers may be worn to prevent closure. Make-UpDiscreet make up can only be worn by sixth form students. Students in key stage 3 or 4 are not allowed to wear make-up. Tattoos are not permitted under any circumstances. EquipmentIn order for each student to be prepared for learning there is an expectation of minimum equipment that must be carried in a suitable bag.
Optional extras
Mobile Phones / MP3s and iPodsKings Lynn Academy is aware that these items are a part of everyday life. We do however request that these items are not visible or used in lessons, tutor times or between these times. If they are, your son/daughter is at risk of having these items confiscated and only returned when you as parent/carer come into the Academy to collect them. Use of these items is permitted at lunchtime only in the outdoor social areas of the Academy. The Academy will not be held responsible for loss, theft or damage of these items and recommends that during PE lessons they are handed in for safe keeping. We strongly recommend that these valuable items are not brought into the Academy.
