The music department at Kings Lynn Academy is leading the way with a new and innovative approach to instrumental lessons with the appointment of fantastic local band ‘BETA TEST’, who we are lucky enough to secure to provide students with relevant and exciting instrumental lessons.
BETA TEST will be offering lessons in electric guitar, drums, bass guitar, keyboard/piano, classical guitar and vocals. These are currently being offered on a two week free trial, open to all students, to see just how much fun learning an instrument can be. Students studying GCSE Music will have a further lesson per week with the band, paid for by the Academy.
Pupils have been able to see the band perform as part of their interview process and more recently at House assemblies where they “rocked out” playing Biffy Clyro and One Republic, showing students just how talented the band, made up of local gigging musicians, are and how good the sessions will be.
Alongside these lessons, the music department are also offering an array of free musical after school groups including Vocal Group (who played on the main stage at Festival Too last year), Rock Band and Music Production Club; using the Mac Suite at the Academy to create, write, record, master and publish students own music.
Music teacher, Jordan Matthews, said “we hope that this fresh approach to instrumental tuition entices students to try something new and we are encouraging students to support this new and exciting way to teach music, we are thrilled to have Beta Test on board and look forward to working with them to enhance the opportunities for students here at Kings Lynn Academy”.
