Please collect a consent form from room 8 at break times and return to Mrs Holland before you join the club!

The baby sitting course is run over 6 weeks on a Wednesday after school 3pm till 4.30

The course consists of:

first aid,

being safe,

Needs of the children,

Feeding, Bathing and changing,

and we invite guest speakers to the sessions.

Although this is not an actual qualification, we do award certificates to each student who completes every session and task set.

As well as all of the above, we visit local nurseries for insight and experience.

The Babies 

We are lucky to have several computerised babies for the course. The babies are designed to react in the same way as a normal child. They cry when they are hungry, tired and need changing. The baby comes with a set of keys that help to settle the child in each of the scenarios including bottle, food and nappy changing. Students are very eager to comfort and help the child when in distress, and we teach the most appropriate way to do this. We also encourage the students to keep a diary of their experiences, what they found easy or difficult, what they need futher advice on, but most of all their thoughts and views about the course and babysitting. We then talk through the outcomes and give support relating to these.
