Sport - Schools: King’s Lynn Academy students taste double joy

 THE King’s Lynn Academy have had double reason to celebrate.

The school’s indoor rowing team won the West Norfolk heats in the indoor rowing competition to become West Norfolk champions, while Ryan Gilbert, a Year 10 student from the school, won the West Norfolk Advanced Trampolining event

 

King’s Lynn: Brazil-iant fun with capoeira

THE rhythms of Copacabana beach  held sway as youngsters from four Lynn junior schools enjoyed a day perfecting their skills in capoeira.

The 120 pupils aged between seven and 11 were from West Winch Primary, Reffley Community School, Middleton VC Primary and Howard Junior. The schools form part of the King’s Lynn Academy Family of Schools.

The Festival of Capoeira was held at the Academy’s sports hall and Year 10 GCSE pupils were on hand to help the event run smoothly.

 

 

Pupils get healthy food for thought

HEALTHY eating has been put under the spotlight at a Lynn school where students are being encouraged to help themselves to snacks that are good for them.

Two self serve vending machines packed with healthy treats have been installed at the Lynn Academy as part of a pilot project in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation.

Lynn Academy, the former Park High School, in Queen Mary Road, Gaywood, has secured the funding from central government to replace around a third of its existing run-down site with new buildings and refurbish the rest

Work begins on King's Lynn Academy's new buildings

The King's Lynn Academy's building work has begun.
It'll take a year and a half to complete the new classrooms and refurbish some of the old ones.
The first stage should be ready to use by as early as this September.

 

Academy plans revealed

Plans have been revealed for a £10.5 million investment in the recently opened King's Lynn Academy. Following on from record results this summer, a programme of both new building and the complete refurbishment of the existing estate will begin in March 2012 with completion by September 2013.
